New Beginnings

Always start for me with new bedding. Usually it's enough for the bedding to be just washed. I love the crispness of freshly laundered sheets, their coolness against skin still pink from a too warm bath. The comforting presence of a duvet settling like a hug over me, enveloping me into a world of refuge and sweet dreams scented by the aroma of soapy suds. Passing a laundromat always evokes a sharp pang of nostalgia for me.
But this time I decided that just washing the bedding was quite significant enough. I needed to be radical and so I gathered my girls to me and we headed for the sales. We oohed and ahhed over pink and purple bedding, lace and frills, floral and plain until we found the perfect bedding for me at the perfect price, reduced to below half its original price.

At last my bedroom feels like a space I can relax in. I keep walking in and admiring the bed, touching the rose pattern and smoothing the cover. It's fully reversible with the other side being a pink paisley type pattern which can be seen at the edges of the pillow cases and the matching sheets.
even my teddies have been able to come out of hibernation and take up their place again.
Knitting and crafting has really taken a back seat over the last few weeks, partly the beautiful summer weather that has had everyone heading for the great outdoors but also home events. Still social knitting starts up again on Monday so it's time to dust off the needles and get cracking on finishing a couple of pieces.

Thank you all for your kind words. I am feeling incredibly light and full of energy and hope for a very bright future.

I cozy just reading this and looking at the photos, Ally! :o) Nothing like the sensation of slipping in among fresh linens and crisp covered duvet...Here in the Norway, the more blankest the better too--LOL! ;o) So glad you are feeling energized and lifted--wonderful! Happy Days to you all! ((HUGS))

Wow! Here's to you and your new beginnings! I guess the only thing better than crisp fresh bedding is knowing when you crawl under them is having a sense of peace. Peace to you my friend!

I can totally relate to your feeling of new bedding being appropriate at this time. Good for you - it is very pretty. May you have many restful nights, with very sweet dreams, whilst lying beneath it. x

Very pretty! We've had the same linens - curtains too - since I bought the place, over 13 years ago.

Very pretty rose print! Since it's reversible, it's almost like having two covers.

Oooh, pretty, pretty. Makes me want to crawl right into my screen and cozy up for a nap. Isn't it fun how something new and crisp like that can make everything look brighter?

I just read your previous post and wanted to congratulate you on your courage! As a child who grew up in a similar sounding house I wish my mother had had that courage long ago!

I'm LOVIN the new bedding! It looks very much like the white quilt that's covered in pink roses on my bed. Sounds like you and your girls created a memory with the shopping trip.
Wish we were having summer weather here. It's been just barely over zero degrees lately, with a constant blanket of snow.
Sweet dreams and happy new beginnings to you dear one!

Beautiful sheets for a brand new life. I can tell you that I went my own way about 15 years ago and life has turned out so wonderful. I am happy, I have two fabulous sons who are all grown up now, I have a good career, my own home purchased with my own money and I feel good. I can't say it has always been easy or fun, but courage, determination, and a view that things will always work out have helped me get through the worst of times. Hugs hugs hugs. If you just want to chat ever, email me - even written words can be very empowering when you need to feel empowered.
