Sunday routines

I love Sundays. AS a child I used to dread them. We never went out or did anything and Sunday just seemed to be a day of trying to stay out of sight as much as possible. Now Sunday has to be my favourite day, even if it tends to be a bit busy. I get up early and enjoy the first half hour on my own while everyone else snoozes on. I am quite content with my cup of Earl Grey curled up in the chair, the cat on my lap and my latest book in my hand. Bliss. I then wake the rest of the house up and leave them to breakfast while I have my one bath of the week. The rest of the time I shower at work.
Church is at 9.30 but usually we leave just after nine. It's not far away but with both daughters active as Sunday school helpers they have things to do before the start of the service,
After church we have a coffee and chat before heading off either as a family or in our own directions. Very often the youth group will have an impromptu activity and the teenagers disappear for the afternoon. If that happens DH and I go for a stroll or for a spot of window shopping. MY favourite is to go and have a Strawberries and cream in Borders because they let you browse the magazines and the books. Bliss state number two. I could happily spend several hours there by DH gets restless once his drink is gone.
In the evening, we light the fire and sit watching Sunday theatre which is usually a British BBC drama imported to NZ. I get lots of knitting done and Monday morning still seems a long way off.
What do you like about Sundays?
God bless everyone. hope you have a happy, productive week.

I love Sundays too. The simpler the better as far as I'm concerned. It's just so good to have one peaceful day in the week ;-)

What a nice blog entry. We live in the countryside so on a sunday its nice to visit a town or go to Scotland a couple of hours drive away and have a picnic beside a loch. There are certain programmes from the 1970's that are repeated on a TV channel we have called UK Gold and when I hear the theme tunes it takes me straight back to Sunday nights as a child, when you heard the theme tune playing you knew it was bath time and early to bed for school the next day.

Sundays are the days I try to make family days , what with Hub working during the week. I try to do a blog post on a Sunday too. When I was younger I remember my dad used to play Elvis 7" on an old cream and red record player when I got out of the bath

I love Sundays because the telephone doesn't ring. It is just so nice to have the peace and quiet and time to yourself. x

I never liked Sundays as a child either, I think it had something to do with not being allowed to play because it was a day of rest.

Now I love Sundays because they are so relaxing, we usually do more things together as a family, the rest of the week we are just to darn busy.

I love Sundays, we get up later, go to church and have lovely lazy afternoons, about twice a month I'll make a roast, but otherwise it's chill out time

Sunday is my favorite day of the week too--love Sundays. There's a calmness and quietness about the whole day, which I love. DH & I usually make a nice breakfast, lingering at the table. I do a longer yoga/medidation practice on Sundays. Dinners are usually more special and lengthy...sometimes we have family over. Mostly it's a day to unwind, enjoy and recharge the batteries before a new week begins. Happy Day ((HUGS))

Your Sunday describes a perfect day - the only change I would make is to switch the bath to after dinner but before the tv show.

Please pop over to my blog to collect an award (it's like the Olympics!)

Thank you for the award Alison, sorry I am so slow to put it on my blog but I will xx. I like Sundays when everything is shut but unfortunatly thats not the case here anymore. So I just try to keep Sunday as a truly quiet day which is hard sometimes!

I love Sundays when the whole family is home and nobody goes out.

Sundays are my favourite of days too, it is lovely to read about your Sundays. We always have a roast dinner and perhaps a walk, at this time of year the walk involved picking blackberries for desert.
